We are proud to be a business owner in Whitby, Ontario, and it is home to the headquarters of Durham Region. It was originally named after the seaport town of Whitby, Yorkshire England . Whitby’s chief asset was its fine natural harbour on Lake Ontario, from which grain from the farmland to the north was first shipped in 1833.

The view above, is looking along the east side of Brock Street about midway in the block north of Colborne Street, as far south as the King Brothers’ Tannery at Brock and Dunlop Streets. At centre is the old town hall, on the south east corner of Brock and Colborne Streets which was built in 1877 and demolished in 1960.
